Workpackages 3 and 4, dealing with the technological development of smart sensors and their integration with remote control and communication systems, form an interface between the fundamental research (WP1 and WP2) and the practical applications (WP5). These two workpackages are dealing with the engineering of an efficient and smart inspection systems based on the NEWS principles:

WP 4 is devoted to the practical realization of the measurement systems for use under operational conditions. Three sub-tasks address 1) hardware and software requirement specifications, 2) device development, matching and part assembly (Milestone 5[1]),, and 3) solutions for the remote control system with long distance data transfer via wireless communication techniques.
